Truly Grateful . . .

What are you thankful for?  This is one of the cards I designed for Stamp Club this month.  I really like the rich fall colors and soft subtle tones combined in this card.  Your eye is drawn directly to the sentiment, "Thankful for . . ."  I used that great Burlap Ribbon on this card to create texture and draw your eye down the center of the card.  Using Stampin' Up! Craft Scissors gives you a quick clean cut, even though it is a very thick ribbon.  The color was sponged on by dabbing, not rubbing, to give it texture but still keeping a softness to the otherwise bold colors. Oh how I LOVE FALL COLORS!

This card was inspired from a card made by Kathleen Wingerson at www.kathleenstamps.com.  Thanks for the inspiration, Kathleen!

Stamp Club Fun!

We all had a great time at Stamp Club Friday night.  There was a fall theme going on and we made some great cards and swapped some very creative ones as well.  Here are a couple pictures of the ladies having fun playing with paper and ink . . .

Everyone was hard at work concentrating on lining up stamps with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, sponging, punching, and layering.  They couldn't even take time to look at the camera and smile!  The finished product was excellent!  I will post the cards we made in the next few days.  You can see one sample standing up on the table in the last photo.

I will share with you the swap card that I made.  It is simple, yet elegant.  I like the rich color combination of Midnight Muse and Cajun Craze, softened with the Vellum overlay.  I ran the Vellum Cardstock through the Big Shot with the Pretty Print Embossing Folder for an elegant touch.  (My Big Shot gets an awful lot of use around here!)  The leaf was stamped using the two-step stamping technique and, of course, the use of my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, then cut out with my Paper Snips.  The sentiment was attached with Liquid Tombow.  I just put tiny dots of the glue all over the back of the letters and pressed them on the Vellum.  They adhered beautifully!  Liquid Tombow is a great glue with a super firm hold, and it goes a very long way!

Below is a list of the supplies I used.
Stamp:  Gently Falling (128430-w, 123804-c)
Paper:  Cajun Craze, Midnight Muse, White Vellum Cardstock, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze

Other: Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon (126847)

Magnificent Maple Masculine Card

This is a great fall card that is quick and easy.  It also works beautifully for a masculine card!  I layered Early Espresso Core'dinations CS on to Early Espresso CS for a more 3-D effect,  Before adhering the two, I ran the Core'dinations CS through the Woodgrain embossing folder, then sanded the surface lightly.  This makes such a great rustic look.  Sticky Strip holds the Burlap Ribbon in place on the back.

I stamped the Magnificent Maple image on White Vellum CS and embossed it with gold embossing powder, then cut out the leaf and adhered it with Dimensionals.  I used the Birch Bark Paper from the Thanksgiving Tablescape Simply Created Kit to give it a fun look and topped it off with a cute Naturals Designer Button.  I took a small thread from another piece of the Burlap Ribbon and tied it through the holes in the button.  You get double the use with that ribbon when you cut one edge and pull the threads out.  That Burlap Ribbon is so great!  I have already gone through an entire spool of it, and you get 5 yards on one spool.  Working on my second spool now.  :)

This is the new Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board!

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It's super easy to use; all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score.
  • It's small and lightweight
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It's easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don't have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won't lose them!).
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much!  It's only $19.95!
  • It will be in next year's annual catalog, so it's here to stay.
