Friendly Wishes

Today the feature card is made from Friendly Wishes stamp set in crisp Island Indigo and Whisper White.  The Deco Labels Framelits make the perfect accent for this simple card.  Dimensionals add a little extra depth to the shaped sentiment.  I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and added some White Perfect Accents to the sides for a little extra pop.  The background was made using the Boho Chic Embossing Folder.

Crisp and fun; this card is perfect for that special friend!

Birthday Blossoms

This stunning card features the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and the very classy Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper.  You really cannot see from the image in the catalog just how lovely this paper is!  I embossed the leaves with clear embossing powder on the black cardstock, then wrapped the Silver Thread around it and adhered it to the Basic Gray base.  I used Lots of Labels Framelits to cut out the sentiment.  I used the Circles Framelits to cut out the rose from the DSP and adhered it to another circle of Basic Gray punched out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.  Then I popped it up with Dimensionals.  Lightly sponging Smoky Slate ink onto the sentiment made it blend perfectly with the DSP.

I think this is an extremely elegant card worthy of  a very special recipient.  Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Remarkable You

Here is another flower card!  This simple 4 1/4" square note card showcases the Remarkable You stamp set.  The flowers and leaves in this set are just glorious!  They look like they were just sketched on the page.  You can keep them as a simple outline image or color in the images with Stampin' Write Markers, Blender Pens, or Aqua Painters.  I used Stampin' Write markers and an Aqua Painter dipped into the ink pad for this card.  Yes, I dip my Blender Pens and Aqua Painters directly into the ink pad.  I do not squish the lid to make an ink splot on the top of the lid and work from there.  I don't like how messy that gets and one time I actually cracked the top of the ink pad when I squeezed.  I find I get the same result by just touching the top of my Blender Pen or Aqua Painter on the ink pad surface.  It's less messy and I don't run the risk of cracking the top.

The colors here are Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.  The Whisper White layer is embossed with the Fluttering Embossing Folder.  I glued the leaves directly to the butterfly layer and popped up the flower with Dimensionals.

This card did have a bit of fussy cutting, but I think the result is just stunning.  I don't know if you can see clearly just how dimensional this card looks.  The picture really doesn't do it justice.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it.

You've Got This Flower

This is a lovely card combining neutral colors and soft background images with a bolder color flower.  The background and flower images come from the You've Got This stamp set and the soft splashes of Delightful Dijon ink were done with Gorgeous Grunge.  The flower was stamped on Watercolor Paper and I used a Watermelon Wonder Stampin' Write Marker to color the edges of the petals and a Blender Pen dipped into the Watermelon Wonder ink pad to create the softer colors.  I used a Cucumber Crush Stampin' Write Marker for the darker accents on the leaves and a Blender Pen dipped in the Mint Macaron ink pad for the lighter parts.  Sahara Sand ink outlined the image lightly with a Blender Pen to create depth.  I love working with Blender Pens; you can create such beautiful soft color with them.

The die cut image is from the retired Labels Collection Framelits and is popped up on Dimensionals.  The soft background is also from the You've Got This stamp set and the lovely ribbon is Sahara Sand Lace Trim.  My card base was Tip Top Taupe but it blended beautifully with the Sahara Sand Lace Trim.

I got my inspiration for this card from Leena Girsa at A La Cards.  Leena often inspires me to think outside the box!  I hope you like my creation.  Please leave me a comment below.

Over The Rainbow

I think the new Over The Rainbow stamp set is just adorable!  One of my Stamp Club members is very Irish in her heritage and proud of it, so I thought this was the perfect set to use for her birthday card.  I got this super cute idea from Tracy Elsom here.  She stamped each letter on colored cardstock and cut each one out separately.  Finding that a bit too tedious, I chose to stamp on Whisper White cardstock and emboss the image with black embossing powder.  Then I used markers to color in each letter and cut the word out as a whole, popping it up on Dimensionals.  The Owl Punch was used to create the pot of gold and I used the circle punch from retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack to make the gold.  I added a tiny four leaf clover punched from that same Itty Bitty Punch Pack out of Cucumber Crush cardstock and hand drew the tiny stem with the marker.

This was a very fun card to create and I have plans to make several more for birthdays.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

You've Got This

Another gorgeous card made with the new 2015 stamp set You've Got This!  This sample incorporates embossing with clear embossing powder, layering, and sponging to create a new color.  I used Tempting Turquoise cardstock where I stamped the flowers from host set Best Thoughts and sponged Island Indigo ink in the center of the the embossed flowers, extending a little outside the flower, but leaving just a hint of the Tempting Turquoise showing in between the flowers.  Adding a splash of sparkle with the 1/8" Silver Ribbon really added impact.

Embossing leaves from Choose Happiness on the black layer created a little depth and interest on the right to balance out the look.

A combination of Circles Framelits and the 2" Circle Punch gave the sentiment just the right depth and helps to draw your eye directly to it.

This is just one of the cards we made at Stamp Club this month.  If you are interested in joining us, contact me for more information.  I have spots available in O'Fallon and Union, Missouri.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Watercolor Wings

This is a simple 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" thank you card made with the lovely new stamp set, Watercolor Wings, and the Fluttering Embossing Folder.  This new embossing folder measures 6" x 6", making it perfect for larger square cards (my favorite shape)!  The sentiment comes from One Big Meaning, a stamp set filled with terrific thank you sentiments in various sizes and styles.  Definitely a "must have" set in your stamp collection!

The base is made out of the new Whisper White 8 1/2" x 11" Thick Cardstock.  This cardstock is 100 lb. weight, making it perfect for card bases.  It has the same great quality as the original Whisper White 80 lb. cardstock and takes ink beautifully!  Your Hand Stamped by image on the back of your card won't show through with this cardstock either!  The embossed butterfly layer is made from the regular Whisper White 80 lb. cardstock.

With this square card you can make a custom envelope with your Envelope Punch Board or send it in one of Stampin' Up!s Whisper White Medium Envelopes.  It does fit nicely in the regular envelope even though it is a square.

Leave me a comment.  I would love to know what you think of my simple little thank you!

Happy Hour!

Here is a fun beer mug card I made using simple punches and vellum.  What a great card for a beer fan!  The sentiment comes from the retired stamp set Happy Hour.  I used my Simply Scored tool to draw the lines on the vellum so it really had the appearance of a textured, frosted beer mug.

This is a simple card you can make and have fun creating the realistic look of a foaming mug of beer.  I used Chocolate Chip cardstock as my card base and Hello Honey cardstock for the beer in the mug and the sentiment.  Whisper White punched circles of various sizes created the foam, and the Ovals Collection Framelits were used to make the handle.

I CASED the basic idea for this from something I saw years ago and just never made.  When I needed a fun birthday card, I decided it was time to try it myself.  I'm very pleased with the result, but you know what?  I didn't make a spare to keep as a sample!  Do you ever do that to yourself?  I do it more often than I should.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my punch art creation.  Check back on Thursday for more creative cards!
