New Email
Hello Friends,
My Yahoo email account was hacked yesterday and I can no longer access it. I have updated the email link here, but if you were in contact with me previously, please note that the email is the same, except that it is @GMAIL.com instead of Yahoo. Also, I may no longer have your contact information since I was unable to access my contacts. I DO have your information if you are a current customer who has placed an order, but may not have it if we have just conversed via email.
Because I am manually adding all my contacts, the weekly newsletter will probably be late this week. Watch for it tomorrow.

Vintage Leaves Birthday
Fall birthdays are so much fun! Making cards with the rich colors of fall just makes my heart smile! This card was made for a special friend of my family. I needed a great card for a man with pop, but it still had to remain on the simple side; because men aren't fond of a lot of fluff. LOL! Normally, when we need a card for a man, leaves or trees are the design of choice. This card is no exception.
I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and the retired Diagonal Plate to make the diagonal score marks on the card front. Then simply attaching multicolored leaves and stamping a birthday sentiment finished off this card. The leaves are made with Vintage Leaves stamp set and cut out with the matching Leaflets Dies. The sentiment is from the Wetlands stamp set.
The base is Cajun Craze, with a layer of Always Artichoke, then a layer of Very Vanilla. The sentiment was stamped with Cajun Craze ink and the leaves were stamped with Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, and Elegant Eggplant inks. You can see I used a multicolored technique on a couple of the leaves to create interest by dabbing Cherry Cobbler ink around the edges. The actual technique is called Rock & Roll, but I wasn't happy with the effect, so I resorted to just dabbing the darker ink around the edges. The top layer of leaves are popped up using Dimensionals.
Thanks to Wendy Klein for the inspiration for creating this card. You can see her original design here.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Cable Knit Embossing Folder with Vintage Leaves
This is one of my favorite fall cards this year! It showcases the new Cable Knit Embossing Folder with a great 3-D image effect and Vintage Leaves stamp set with some very classy copper accents. Inking up the embossing folder with Cajun Craze ink before adding the cardstock created even more dimension on the card front.
I used Copper Foil Paper and embossed the sentiment on it with Copper Embossing Powder--a very cool technique. The leaves were stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on Crushed Curry cardstock, crumpled, then sponged with Cajun Craze, Old Olive, and Tangerine Tango inks. The Burlap Ribbon gives it a slightly rustic look, adding even more texture, while the Copper Foil Paper and Copper Thread add a touch of elegance. It's a perfect mix of rustic and elegant elements that gives this card it's pop and charm.
The leaves were stamped with the Vintage Leaves stamp set and the sentiment is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set on page 49 in the Holiday Catalog. I also used the Layering Ovals Framelits for the sentiment pieces.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

More Cards from WCMD Event
Here are some more cards from the World Card Making Day Event I held on October 1st.
The card on the left features the Candy Cane Lane suite of products along with the Layering Circles Framelits. I used Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper and Baker's Twine, along with Real Red 3/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon. I absolutely LOVE that ribbon! It is so soft and beautiful to work with, and really makes an impact on projects. The sentiment is from the Oh What Fun stamp set. Cardstock colors are Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Cherry Cobbler.
The center one features the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and the Watercolor Wings stamp set. Cardstock colors are Night of Navy and Whisper White.
The card on the right features the Star of Light stamp set and matching Starlight Thinlits Dies. This card has a simple black and white motif with a pop of Cherry Cobbler and dazzling Silver Glimmer and Silver Foil Papers. The Cherry Cobbler star is folded on the score lines made by the die and popped up with 2 Dimensionals layered on top of one another in the center to give it a very 3-D look!

World Card Making Day Projects
Here's a look at 3 of the projects we made for World Card Making Day on October 1st.
The first card creates a wood look background using the direct pad to paper technique. That background started out as Very Vanilla! The die from the Flourish Thinlits is cut out twice; once in Early Espresso and once in Pumpkin Pie (I know it looks kind of pinkish in the photo, but it really is Pumpkin Pie). Those pieces were layered together at a slight offset to create the look of depth. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso and is from the stamp set Thankful Thoughts. My inspiration for this card came from Michelle Zindorf.
The center card was inspired by Sherry Wayt and features the Flourish Thinlits, Detailed Santa Thinlits, and Copper Foil Paper. The sentiment is from Sheltering Tree.
The last card features the Woodland Embossing Folder, Vintage Leaves and Leaflets Framelits, along with the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set and Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. The Burlap Ribbon adds an earthy touch. The sentiment is from Guy Greetings. This card was inspired by two different cards made by Krista Thomas and Sandra Santiago. I found their cards on Pinterest and used a combination of ideas from each card to create this one.

Magic Slider Card
Today's post shows you a magic slider card we made during one of our Saturday Skills Classes. Magic is always fun and this card is no exception. When closed the image appears to be a black outline on a Mint Macaron background. When you pull the tab up to open, the image is in wonderful color and another sentiment appears! I watched a couple different videos to learn how to make this card, then adapted them to suit how I wanted this card to work. I didn't want the inside to come all the way out when the tab was pulled, so I created some stops near the top with Dimensionals and cut the slider part into a slightly inverted "T" so the top edges of the "T" would hit the Dimensionals and prevent it from sliding out all the way. It worked although I feel it still needs some fine tuning.
The stamp set I used is Garden in Bloom and the papers are Mint Macaron, Island Indigo and Blooms & Bliss DSP. I just love that Mint Macaron 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon! Everything is placed on a bit of an angle to create the whimsical feeling of this card. The ribbon is even tied at an angle and secured in the back with a Glue Dot to keep it that way!
Here is the Stampin' Up! video I watched to learn how to create this card. Magic Card by Stampin' Up!

Beautiful Branches
Here are a couple more cards made with the Thoughtful Branches Bundle. I made one a thank you and the other one a lovely sympathy card. The layer of Designer Series Paper is from By the Shore DSP. You would never know from the picture in the catalog that these beautiful papers were included! I absolutely LOVE them!
The thank you sentiment is from Thoughtful Branches and I'm not quite sure where the sympathy one came from. It might be from a retired set. My craft room is a bit of a disaster right now and I can't find the set I used! The inside was the same piece of DSP and I stamped the sentiment directly on the paper for a lovely effect.
Please leave me your comments below.

Thoughtful Branches Bundle
The Thoughtful Branches Bundle is a hit sensation with images popping up all over the internet! Here is another image to share. This is one of the cards we made at Stamp Club this month. It is so very clean and simple, but has quite an impact! I'd definitely call it a WOW card. I used the Thoughtful Branches stamp set for the sentiment and the Beautiful Branches Thinlits to cut out this lovely tree.
In this card you see positive and negative images used together to create the dramatic tree image. The new Foam Adhesive Strips were used around the tree to pop up the Very Vanilla layer. These strips are a little thicker than our regular Dimensionals, and that gave it just enough depth to really see the contrast.
I was inspired by Kylie Bertucci's card. You can see her original card here. As you can see, I made a couple subtle changes when creating my card. I used Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, and Very Vanilla cardstock for my card; and added a lovely soft touch with Mint Macaron 3/8" Sheer Linen Ribbon and 1/4" Gold Natural Trim.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Baseball Birthday--Go Cards!
Here's a fun birthday card for a baseball fan! I used a retired punch for the arrows and a circle punch (sorry don't recall what size) for the baseball with hand-drawn stitching. Place a punched circle on the ball and use a red Sharpie to draw around the outline and carefully add the stitch arrows. Then I pierced a hole at the end of each "stitch" for a bit of realism. The Kraft cardstock for the "dirt" was crumbled up multiple times and sponged with Soft Suede ink. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners and the matching Duet Banner Punch was used to punch it out. I also pierced the edges of the "dirt" all the way around, but it's a bit hard to see in the photo.
I was inspired by Breelin Renwick for this card. You can see her original card here.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my baseball birthday card. Being a St. Louis Cardinals fan, of course, red is the primary focus on this card!

Seaside Shore Fancy Flap Card Fold
Oh the fun things that come to mind when you think summer, sand and sea! I love the sea and everything about it! This card makes you feel like you are taking a dip right in there with the fish. To create this card I used the Seaside Shore stamp set and that wonderful photo realistic Serene Scenery DSP Stack.
This delightful card idea was CASED from Debbie Henderson and you can see her original card and directions here. Note: When stamping your sea plants and inside sentiment, check the placement of your circle cuts first, as I had to re-do mine because they showed in the center circle when the card was closed. Using your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is really helpful so you can be sure the plants look just right. Also measure from the top center (2 1/8") to the side center (2 3/4") when making your cut on the first flap. Don't cut from the side center to the top fold as I first did. Her directions tell you to cut from the fold line to the side center, but that is an error.
A delightful bonus was that the back of the DSP had a pattern that I thought looked like sand dollars, so I left that visible when the card was fully opened.
I used the Gold Wink of Stella to color in my sea plants and I think the look is fabulous! It's a kind of greenish gold with the DSP background. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners and punched out with the matching Duet Banner Punch.
I sponged the edges of the torn cardstock for the sand and did a little extra tapping of ink with the sponge on the front to give it more texture. I believe I added this texture after I photographed it. Don't glue the top of the torn edges down so you can slip in your shells and starfish. I also added a little shimmer to the starfish, shells and fish fins with Clear Wink of Stella.
I am so thrilled with how this card turned out! It takes a little extra love and some fussy cutting, but for a special recipient, it is well worth it! This one went to my niece for her birthday. I hope you enjoy it and will try to make one of your own. Please leave me a comment below.

Thoughtful Branches Bundle
The Thoughtful Branches Bundle is now available but only until August 31st, so place your order soon! This is one card I made with the bundle and I used the sentiments from Here for You. There are some great sentiments in that set that are on the more casual side. Sometimes that is just the perfect message you want to convey with a card!
Here I wanted to send a little "pick me up" message and I thought the tree with the lone apple did the trick. I loved that there was a matching die to cut out my little apple, too! I could have fussed more and added extra details, but the card was for a man, so I figured simple was better.
I CASED this idea from a card made by Susan Itell. You can see her original card here.
What do you think of this lovely set? We will be using this set on Friday for Stamp Club this month to make a couple more cards with totally different looks. Check back to see them soon!

2016 Open House--A SUCCESS!
The 2016 New Catalog Open House Event was a huge hit with 26 guests in attendance! The day was filled with games, prizes, make & takes, delicious refreshments, and lots of inspiration.
I would like to share with you a few comments I received via email after the event:
I want to say what an amazing Open House this was for me. I was blown away by the amount of work you put into doing this for all of us and feel like I should thank you! So THANK YOU, Susan!!
Sherri S.
I felt the day was perfect - no improvement needed! Make & Takes were great and easy to do. You were very well organized and the day flowed perfectly!
Phyllis S.
I so enjoyed your Open House and meeting you. Thank you for your gracious hospitality. I have never done stamping before, so I was very overwhelmed in trying to chose a nice entry point for card making materials. As I learned, there is A LOT to learn about techniques and materials. You are a wonderful demonstrator, teacher and hostess. The sign of a great teacher is when the student comes away feeling success. I loved your demonstrations and making your sample cards. I had such a great time with your delightful group of stamping girls! Thanks for having me.
Linda C.
My favorite part of the day was the Open House itself. The food is always scrumptious. Your decorating always presents a party flair and introduces the new products and new colors to great advantage. I like to peruse the past items that are for sale and the displays of the new products and cards you have already prepared. One particular item that always pleases me is the color handout sheets of each color family and the In Color families. I found the Make & Takes interesting with easy to follow instructions. As much as I enjoyed all these things, they do not compare to the classes and unique techniques that you teach us.

As far as what I am looking for in a Demonstrator, that's easy; just someone who is excited about their business and is ready to help her customers understand the product and the best way to use it. You definitely showed me that yesterday. Looking forward to learning new ways to enjoy a hobby I love.

Here are just a few images from the day.

Suite Sayings Wedding Card
Today's card is a lovely wedding card made for Mr. & Mrs. A.J. Stoll. Heather and A.J. were married on Sunday, which marked the beginning of Forever for them. Congratulations to a wonderful couple!
The sentiment is stamped from Suite Sayings and the flower image is from Beautiful Bunch, punched out with the matching Fun Flower punch. Both the Beautiful Bunch stamp set and Fun Flower punch are retiring. The flower layered in the back was punched out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The drapery fold was created using the Neutrals Color Collection Designer Series Paper in Silver.
I have seen several of these style cards on the internet, but this one was inspired by Connie Babbert. You can see her original card here.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my card.

Helping Me Grow
This is one of my very favorite cards we made at Stamp Club. It uses the Helping Me Grow stamp set and Rose Wonder stamp set, both of which are returning in the 2016-2017 catalog!. I also used that great Brick Wall Embossing Folder (this, too, is returning!). Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
I CASE'd this idea from Sandi MacIver. You can see her original card here.

Love & Laughter Wedding Shower
Hello friends! The graduation/wedding season is upon me in full force this year. I have six graduations and one wedding to attend in the next couple of weeks and have been hard at work preparing those cards, as well as a large number of family birthdays in the month of May. Preparations are well under way for my Annual New Catalog Open House on June 11th.
Because I have so many irons in the fire right now, I have been lax at posting cards for you. Today, here is a quick post showing you the wedding shower card I made for a shower last month. This card is a swing card with an oval opening. It is kind of hard to see the mechanics of the card from a photo, but I think they are really cool!
This card was made using the retired set Love & Laughter.

Yipee-Skipee!
Today's card includes some retired/retiring products. I thought that was appropriate since we are in the midst of saying goodbye to retiring products from the current catalog. Some of the products used to make this card were previously retired and are not available in the current catalog.
The retired stamp set was called Yippee-Skipee! as the sentiment reads. The Sweetheart Punch and Small Oval Punch (previously retired) were used to make the paw print; and the Word Window Punch and Small Heart Punch were used to make the bone. The Word Window Punch is retiring with the current catalog, so if you don't have that absolutely indispensable punch yet, order it today! I use it so often for small sentiments and for LOTS of punch art projects. In my opinion, it is definitely a MUST HAVE punch for your craft room! I used the previously retired Small Heart Punch for the ends of the bone, but you could also use the little heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack instead. That punch pack is also retiring, so grab it while you can!
I made this card for my son and it accompanied a sweet little toy box full of puppy toys for his new puppy. Inside the greeting read: "Congratulations on your new baby!" That is exactly what new little puppies are: A special baby addition to your household. He named her Layla and she is such an adorable sweetheart! I used the now retiring Brights Candy Dots to accent the inside sentiment, giving it just the right amount of pop. The little bow was made with the Bermuda Bay 1/8" Stitched Ribbon on page 35 of the Occasions Catalog.
Place an order today using Host Code GUTCWECC and I will enter your name into a drawing for a FREE gift! Don't delay placing your order for your favorite retiring products before they are gone forever! Some items are already sold out! For a complete list of what is retiring, click HERE.
